PRECARIOUS PRACTICES
Precarious Practices is a working group and a platform organised by ten freelance artists from the field of dance and choreography in Helsinki. The group’s work focuses on artistic exchange, sense of community and continuity. At the moment the artists active in the working group are Elias Girod, Ella Koikkalainen, Sanni Kriikku, Pietari Kärki, Taru Miettinen, Jan Nyberg, Anne Rönkkö, Tuuli Vahtola, Vanessa Virta and Soile Voima. A self-employed artist is in an economically and socially precarious and unstable position. Precarious Practices supports the freelance artist's ability to do meaningful artistic work and allow artistic practices to materialize despite difficult working conditions. COMING EVENTS at Mad House in March and April 2020 Practices of Love and Body is a series of events in which the working group shares their artistic work through discussion, experimentation and listening. The events are based on the artistic practices of the members of the group. The event invites you as a participant to watch and to hear, to be heard if you wish, or to just spend time, drink coffee, think and put aside your everyday pressures. Performing practices are shared, embodied experiences. As a way of being, they need to be witnessed. |
